SC-5: Terrain Height Data Generation
Monday 6 to Friday 10 July, 8:30 – 17:30
Presented by
Anil Kumar, Indian Institute of Remote Sensing
Abstract
The broad course coverage of the short-term course on Terrain Height Data Generation is to provide:
- Fundamentals of GPS Technology.
- Field study on the application of GPS for land surveying.
- Hands on experience in handling GPS receiver, to collect data using GPS receiver, to process GPS receiver data using software and to analyze data.
- Digital Photogrammetry for generating spatial databases from aerial and satellite stereo data processing.
- Principles of Airborne Laser Altimeter (LiDAR) and its applications with Airborne Laser Altimeter data processing.
After getting level of confidence on GPS, Digital Photogrammetry and LiDAR technology persons working in natural resources management can extract terrain height information from different remote sensing tools. This terrain height information can be utilized in infrastructure development, water resources management, agriculture studies, and geological studies, hydrogeological studies etc. Participants can apply these technologies in Geo-spatial studies of earth resources.
